Saranac Lake, incorporated in 1892 , is a thriving, vibrant community of 5500 located in the High Peaks Area of the Adirondack Mountains in northern New York State. It's early history as a cure center for tuberculosis has accustomed it to welcoming visitors from numerous countries worldwide.

Situated in the heart of the Adirondack Park, a 6 million acre area of woodlands, lakes, rivers and streams, the community sports recreational activities all year round. In 1897 the village held its first Winter Carnival festival. This annual observance is the oldest event of its kind in the northeast.
