It has been announced that David Benham, 4th grade student has been chosen the National, student winner for third and fourth grades in the "Stay Safe Online" poster contest sponsored by the SANS Institute and the FBI's National Infrastructure Protection Center. The contest was held to reinforce the importance of internet safety.
Two winning posters from St. Bernard's School's third, fourth and fifth grades were chosen based on their security message and design. The St. Bernard School winning posters competed with others in our region where one winner from each category and age group was chosen to participate in the national contest.
David's poster was judged by a panel of judges including representatives from the White House Office of Homeland Defense, the U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the U.S. General Services Administration.
David and his family will travel to Washington D.C. to receive his award in the Roosevelt Room at the White House. Former Pennsylvania Governor Thomas Ridge, now Secretary of Homeland Defense, will present David his award.
In addition, David has earned $1,500 in computer equipment for St. Bernards School and his winning poster will be made into a screen saver.
